At Emileza Culinary School we educate, motivate and uplift people by teaching them basic cooking skills. The Emileza Cook Book and workshops are formulated to educate even the totally illiterate domestic worker.  But that’s not all! The book will help multi-tasking mothers, wives, working ladies and  the most undomesticated bachelor to prepare and enjoy fresh and healthy meals every day!


Meet our team




Millie Hoffman-Van Deventer

Millie is a Higher Diploma graduate in Consumer Guidance (1979).
She previously worked as Food Editor and Stylist at Rooi Rose Magazine, where she initiated the Kiddie Cook of the Year and the Top Teen Chef competitions.
In 1989 Millie opened the Catering Training Department at Eskom. Today she’s an experienced course developer and business woman. She is the proud owner of the imposing Hoffman’s Guesthouse and her culinary experience is well known after 21 years of successful catering all over the country.
In 2015 she started Emileza Cooking School with her sister Leonora.

Leonora Jacobs

Leonora is responsible for the administration, marketing and the financial well-being of the company. She completed her Master’s degree from North West University, specializing in Labour Relations in 2006.
While working in the mining industry for 6 years she experienced the need to uplift housekeepers and domestic workers by teaching them cooking skills. This will empower them to better fulfill their duties as well as providing broader future prospects.
Leonora, passionate about people and with a love for the catering business, decided to join her sister Millie Hoffman-Van Deventer in establishing Emileza Cooking School in May 2015.



Dorcas and Zanele

Zanele Masombuka and Dorcas Vilakazi are important members of our team. They are experienced cooks with profound cooking skills. When lessons require assistance with interpretation and preparation, Dorcas and Zanele are always ready to apply an explanation or two.
Both these ladies are vital in a sense that they establish a kind of hospitality that is crucial for a successful learning environment. They provide our students with the ability to acquire new skills in an environment that could be very challenging for them. The comfort of each student is their passion. That’s why we create the perfect scenario in which our students can learn how to cook properly.
